Recommended hiking trails

The Slovenske gorice hiking trail

The Slovenske gorice hiking trail is 93 kilometres long and goes across the central Slovenske gorice wine-growing region, as well as parts of the Ptuj and Drava fields. It starts in Slovenia's oldest city of Ptuj, at the Terme Ptuj thermal resort, and goes across Vurberk, through the villages of Trnovska vas, Vitomarci, Juršinci, Polenšak, Prerad, Gorišnica, and Markovci, before circling back to Ptuj. The trail has 12 checkpoints, each with a stamp that you have to log in your hiking journal.

Hiking trail to Mestni Vrh

The almost 16-kilometre-long trail begins either at Terme Ptuj or at the old city centre, and will guide you along the city streets and Drava river, and through forests and orchards. On the way, you can take a look at the Roman encampment of Petovio and the 200-year-old traditionally built Herberstein House. If you are hungry or thirsty during your hike, you can visit one of the tourist farms along the way.

Muster's circular trail across Haloze

Muster's themed route was named after the famous Slovenian academic painter and pioneer of Slovenian comic books, Miki Muster, whose father hailed from Haloze. It starts at the Voglar log cabin called ""ŠRC Šumica"" and then leads past Muster's homestead, where you can view examples of his work and receive an honorary Muster's Trail badge.

The picturesque trail across the wine-growing region of Slovenske gorice

Discover the outskirts of the wine-growing region of Slovenske gorice, the largest hill chain in Slovenia. A pleasant world of lightly hilly, low vineyards that also adorn Drava's left river bank, north of Ptuj. A wonderful landscape, resembling the waves of the sea and mystically surrendering to the intoxicating rays of the sun, while the hills brim with vineyards and orchards, connected together with scattered settlements and curiously laid paths.
