Socerb Castle

This compact medieval village under the edge of a rock is absolutely wonderful with its castle and karst-type homesteads. Strmec Castle (Socerb) is the only major fortified building in the Kraški rob area above the coast, and fascinates every visitor. The area of Socerb Castle is even registered as a monument of national importance. From the castle you can also admire a beautiful view of the Bays of Trieste and Koper - which was the (albeit strategic) reason for its construction. Beneath the castle is a karst cave connected to the castle courtyard.
