Strunjan Nature Park

Strunjan Nature Park

The Strunjan Nature Park is a unique, unspoiled area of nature that reveals the majesty of patterns carved into the landscape by the sea for thousands of years. The specialty of the nature park is Stjuža, the only Slovenian sea lagoon. Within the park, the Strunjan Cliff, a formation of Flysch cliff walls, is also an exceptional landmark, and is the highest cliff in the Adriatic. The park also represents the longest stretch of unspoiled coastline for the 130 kilometres between Grado in Italy and Savudrija in Croatia, where the Gulf of Trieste ends. The precipitous walls and the pebble beach at the foot of the cliff are completely untouched, and are moulded only by the natural processes whereby the sea, rain, and wind constantly transform the crumbling layers of rock, drawing new features upon them.
The park offers visitors many opportunities for picturesque walks along well-maintained trails leading to viewpoints with a wonderful panoramic view of the Adriatic Sea.
