As a result, in the early 20^thcentury Portorož saw the development of various health centres and hotels. Today, Portorož is the town with the largest number of visitors on the Slovenian coast. It attracts national and international guests thanks to its mild climate and lush vegetation. Portorož has gambling, trading and fishing activities, it is also the home of the Secondary maritime school, the Faculty of maritime studies and transport and the Faculty of tourism studies.

Tourists can find everything they want in Portorož. There’s a rich offer of wellness services, numerous hotels, sandy beaches, a marina and many clubs right by the sea.

Bernardin (Bernardin Resort) is a touristic destination in Portorož, where you can find a resort and convention centre with various hotels of different categories and prices. If you decide to visit Portorož or go to the beach, the best option is to park in a garage, since it is more convenient that parking on the street and your car will also stay cool as it will be parked in the shade.

Aerodrom Portorož is the third international airport in Slovenia. It has a strategical position as it is geographically well placed in central Europe. Its position is actually unique, as it is situated in the heart of the Nature park Sečovlje saltpans and is only a few kilometres away from Portorož and Piran. Moreover, it has excellent road connections to central Slovenia and also to other regions.

During summer the airport is open from 8:30 till 20:00, during winter from 8:00 till 16:30.
